Being a parent of middle or high school students is exciting. Exciting like trying to escape from a tornado or falling out of your canoe just after you saw the largest alligator in your life. Raising teens is one of those experiences that you look back on later, shake your head, and laugh. However, while you are going through those years life is hard, confusing, scary, and frustrating.

WPC Student Ministry is committed to helping parents through the teen years. It is our goal to see families experience deep and lasting change as they encounter the gospel of Jesus. We offer many challenging settings for students to experience Christ and it is our desire to offer the same for parents. Here you will find biblical resources that are useful, necessary, and challenging, to help you as a parent and discipler.

Ten Biblical Realities Every Parent Should Know

God desires to work within family contexts to build His kingdom.
Parents are the primary disciplers of their children.
Students are not independent but exist within the context of their family.
A student’s family context is the single greatest earthly influence in his or his/her life over friends and the media.
To create deep, lasting change in a student the church must deeply impact the student's family context.
The church is the instrument God uses to deepen and broaden a student’s faith beyond what a parent/family environment is able to provide.
It is good for students to be with their parents as they grow in their faith.
It is good for students to be apart from their parents to grow in their faith.
It is the role of the Church to partner with parents in the discipling of their students by providing encouragement, training, and resources.
It is both the role of the parents and the church to disciple their students to be fully functioning members of Christ’s body, the church.
